Most Asphalt Zipper models will grind approximately 1,800 linear feet per hour in 6-inch thick asphalt. As asphalt thickness increases, the speed may decrease, and in thinner asphalt or chipseal you can go quicker. Please note that grinding too quickly through thin asphalt or chip seal can reduce material quality. Age, condition, and temperature of asphalt may also impact grinding speed.

Yes. We have several machine sizes that fit a wide range of backhoes and loaders. A big benefit of Asphalt Zipper’s patented bucket mounting system is that you can securely connect to the bucket or quick coupler of most loaders and backhoes.

Thanks to the patented ZipTec™ Enhanced Pulverizing Systems on Gen8 machines, our machines generate the finest material achievable, especially in thin, cracked, or alligatored asphalt and chip seal. Our machines regularly produce 2-inch minus material or better. When you have a need for even greater control over material size, look to machines with the ZipTec™ Plus (420X) or Dual-Frame ZipTec™ Enhanced Pulverizing Systems (Xi models).

If material is too coarse, simply close the rear baffle, and you may want to slow your speed. If material is too fine, simply open the rear baffle and increase speed. Age, condition, and temperature of asphalt may impact material size.

In most cases you can reuse the recycled asphalt as trench backfill or road base. If you need to remove it, most asphalt millings can simply be scooped out with a loader bucket and/or excavator. Any excess material is quite valuable and can be used on other projects or even sold.

Yes. Custom trailers are available for every model; purchase of a trailer is optional. Each trailer is engineered for smooth transport, easy unloading / loading, and to be a convenient and safe work platform for routine maintenance.

Absolutely. Asphalt Zipper Gen8 X and Gen8 Xi machines can also be great asphalt milling machines / cold planers. You can mill from 0 to 12-inches deep (10-inches on some models). Because of their compact size they are ideally suited for milling T-cuts, trench plate recessing and milling in tighter areas.

You can operate larger, more powerful Asphalt Zipper machines on a smaller loader or backhoe with Asphalt Zipper’s Accu-Trak™ wheel assist, which offsets a portion of the machine’s weight to a front wheel system, much like a wheelbarrow.

All Gen8 X and Gen8 Xi models allow you to set the machine flush on the ground.

Cutting teeth and all parts can be purchased direct from the Asphalt Zipper factory. All Asphalt Zipper machines use an industry standard cutting tooth (bit) size which is readily available.
