Manufacturer: Asphalt Zipper Inc. (“AZI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”)

1. Introduction

At AZI., we are committed to providing high-performance, reliable, and safe mobile equipment. To support these goals, our units are equipped with Zipper Connect™, a remote monitoring and tracking technology (“Telematics”) that collects and transmits data regarding the machine’s operation. This notice explains how we collect, use, and protect that data.

2. What Data We Collect

By operating an Asphalt Zipper unit, the following data points may be collected and transmitted to our secure servers:

  • Machine Performance Data: Engine hours, fuel consumption, diagnostic fault codes, hydraulic pressures, battery health, and load cycles.
  • Location Data: Precise GPS coordinates, direction of travel, and geofencing status.
  • Operator Behavior Data: Operational load, inspection patterns, idle time, and safety trigger alerts (e.g., vibration intensity or tilt sensors).
  • Identification Data: Machine Serial Number (PIN/VIN), model type, and associated software versions.

3. How We Use Your Data

We process this data to provide and improve our services, specifically for:

  • Maintenance & Warranty: Proactive diagnostic alerts to prevent downtime and verification of usage for warranty claims.
  • Product Improvement: Analyzing aggregated data to engineer more efficient and durable future equipment.
  • Safety & Security: Assisting in the recovery of stolen equipment and monitoring for unsafe operating conditions.
  • Fleet Management: Providing owners with insights into fuel efficiency and machine utilization to optimize job site costs.

4. Data Sharing and Transfer

AZI does not sell your machine data to third-party marketers. We share data only with:

  • Authorized Dealers: To facilitate local service, repairs, and parts delivery.
  • Service Providers: Secure cloud hosting and data analytics partners who are contractually prohibited from using your data for any other purpose.
  • Legal Compliance: When required by law, regulation, or legal process.

5. Your Rights and Choices

You have control over how your data is managed:

  • Opt-Out: You may request to disable non-essential data transmission (such as operator behavior or GPS tracking) via the Zipper Connect Portal. Please note that disabling certain features may impact warranty support or theft recovery services.
  • Access: You may request a report of the data collected from your specific machines at any time.
  • Transfer of Ownership: If you sell your equipment, please notify us immediately so we can terminate data transmission to your account and reset the system for the new owner.

6. Data Security and Retention

We employ TLS protocols for data in transit. We retain machine performance data for the operational life of the equipment to support long-term engineering safety.

7. Responsibility of the Machine Owner (The Buyer)
